CRPF COBRA CONSTABLE RAKESH RELEASED BY MAOISTS, HELD DURING CHHATTISGARH ENCOUNTER

Delhi: On Thursday, CRPF constable held during encounter between Maoists and CRPF was released by Maoists. This encounter was held in Chhattisgarh after the information of Maoists living in forest had reached army forces. In this encounter 22 army personnel were killed from which 7 belongs to COBRA unit.

On 3rd April a CRPF COBRA constable Rakesh Singh Manhas was found missing after the encounter. Then after three days of encounter Maoists informed army personnel that Manhas is in their custody. They informed Indian government with a picture of Manhas.

Maoists released him without any conditions and demands. Manhas was handed over to social worker Dharamlal Saini and tribal community leader Telam Boraiya who had gone as interlocutor for his release. Manhas was released after 5 days of encounter.
In the press release by spokesperson of Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DSZC) of the banned CPI (Maoists), said that, government should sent names of interlocutors for their release. Manhas had safely reached Army Camp.
