SAD AND BSP FORM ALLIANCE AHEAD OF STATE ELECTIONS IN PUNJAB

Punjab (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: The Shromani Akali Dal (SAD) has formed alliance with the National Party Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ahead of State elections in Punjab. With this alliance SAD tried to tempt the schedule caste, backward caste voters and fill the gap of seats amid the split with BJP.

SAD in 2017 assembly elections not even attained the position of main opposition party, as AAP took over more seats than SAD. Shromani Akali Dal and Bahujan Samaj Party is joining hands after 27years. In 1996 SAD and BSP contested elections together and won 11 seats out of 13 seats.

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal while addressing press conference said that, “This is a new day in Punjab politics, Shromini Akali Dal and Bahujan Samaj Party will fought 2022 elections and future elections together.”

“The tie-up between SAD and BSP in Punjab is a significant move. This will start a new chapter for the progress of people in the state. I congratulate people for this historic move,” BSP chief Mayawati said in a tweet in Hindi.

This is a very smart move by both the parties to collect the voters together and made a strong front against congress in upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2022. BSP has a strong popularity among schedule and backward caste people while SAD has good vote share among Sikh community. So, to win elections it’s important to collect all voters and gain majority.
