Phagwara/Hoshiarpur: GNA University Phagwara under the benign presence of Ms, Deepti Uppal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala inaugurated a rooftop solar project with an objective to switch completely to green power. The solar power plant has been installed to lessen dependence on thermal and hydro-based electricity. This step is a nice initiative in making the University greener.
During the inauguration ceremony, ADC-cum-Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr. Rajeev Verma and SDM Phagwara Ms Shayari Malhotra were also present. The University took this eco-friendly call with the relentless support and stewardship of S. Gurdeep Sihra, Pro-Chancellor GNA University. During the ceremony he stated “The new solar power plant will carry enormous relief in cutting down our electricity bills in addition of making the University more eco-friendly.”
Dr. VK Rattan, Vice-Chancellor, GNA University stressed on the need of making utmost utilization of solar power in the state.
Dr. R K Mahajan, Registrar, GNA University thanked everyone for successfully completing the project despite adverse conditions and time constraints.
Dr. Monika Hanspal, Dean Academics, GNA University congratulated everyone for this great effort. She even stated, “The project will provide an opportunity to students to learn their research aspects and alternative energy sources.”
