97 PERCENT POSSESSION PROCESS ACCOMPLISHED FOR DELHI-KATRA EXPRESSWAY

JALANDHAR (The Stellar News): For the proposed Delhi-Katra expressway, the District Administration has completed 97 percent process for possession of land in the district besides taking possession of 52 land for another project of Jalandhar Byepass under proposed ring road.
Apprising about the status of these projects the Chairperson of National Highways Authority of India Alka Upadhyaya and Punjab Chief Secretary V.K. Janjua through video conference, the Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh mentioned that the processes of getting possession had already been intensified. He informed that out of total 97 percent land taken in possession so far 98 percent in the jurisdiction of Jalandhar-2 sub division, 100 percent in Phillaur and 90 percent in Nakodar (Amritsar connectivity) and 100 percent  (main alignment). The Deputy Commissioner stated that 100 percent land for widening of NH-70 and Adampur flyover had already been taken under possession.
Giving information about the Jalandhar Byepass project, Jaspreet Singh pointed out that possession of 52 percent land was taken while the process for getting possession of land for Amritsar-Bathinda Greenfield Byepass had also been initiated. The Deputy Commissioner said that the officials concerned had also been directed to speed up the process of possession so that work on these projects could be started as early as possible.
The Deputy Commissioner also informed that the landowners had been given award amount of Rs. 443.23 crore for Delhi-Katra Expressway including Rs. 242.87 crore by SDM-II, 107.04 crore from SDM Phillaur and 93.32 crore in Nakodar. Under the Jalandhar byepass project Rs. 213 crore has been awarded while Rs. 135.37 crore was given to the land owners for widening of NH-70 and Adampur flyover, he added.
Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned Competent Authority of Land Acquisition (CALA) to ensure 80 percent land acquire for Jalandhar Byepass project by the end of this month besides expediting the process of giving compensation to the concerned persons. Others who were present in the VC included SDM-2 Balbir Raj Singh, SDM Nakodar Randeep Singh Heer, District Revenue Officer Jashanjit Singh and official from NHAI.
