Punjab (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: Indian National Congress has announced its Chief Ministerial Face for Punjab as Charanjit Singh Channi. But many questions arouse after this announcement that despite of having many senior leaders in party why Congress chosed Charanjit Singh Channi?
one reason could be the image of common man that Charanjit Singh Channi has successfully made in last three months after being appointed as Punjab CM replacing Capt Amarinder Singh.
But this is not the only reason, another biggest reason is the huge number of Dalit vote in the state. As in Punjab assembly elections out of 117 Constutuency seats 34 are reserved for Scheduled caste and CM Channi himself belongs to SC community.
This means that more than 30% vote of dalits in state, highest in the whole country as compare to other states, that persuade every party to talk about the community on every stage.
By appointing CM Channi as the Punjab CM congress tried to tempt the SC community voters and chose the same tactic by announcing Charanjit Singh Channi as Chief Ministerial face for Punjab.
This was the first time that Punjab got CM from SC community as from last many years only Sikh faces was appointed on such a big post.
