Kargil (The Stellar News): In a somber announcement the loss of Haji Rangeen Ali, a visionary figure in both politics and business, who passed away at the age of 94 has left a void in Kargil. Known for his dynamic political career, Ali was a dedicated Congress worker during the Late Kacho Mohd Ali Khan period, leaving an indelible mark on the political landscape. Beyond politics, Haji Rangeen Ali’s entrepreneurial foresight led to the establishment of several successful businesses, including Hotel D Zojjila, Zojjila Engineering Works, and Hotel Zojila Residency. His ventures played a pivotal role in employment generation, contributing significantly to the economic landscape of Ladakh. As the first A Class contractor in District Kargil, Ali’s engineering prowess was evident in landmark projects, such as the Steel Girder Bridge at Makdoom Sangrah, District Hospital Kargil, and critical stretches on the Kargil Leh Highway, executed under Er. Sonam Nurbu. Notably, he was among the first contractors registered with Military Engineering Services.
Haji Rangeen Ali’s legacy extends to his family, including his son Haji Asgar Ali, a retired Commissioner Powers, and Haji Fida Ali, a distinguished businessman and the President of JKNC Kargil Block. Their achievements reflect the enduring influence of a visionary leader. During the 80s, Ali, alongside his brother Haji Mubarek Ali and brother-in-law Haji Mohd Jaan, showcased humanitarian efforts by constructing Jaan Sarai in Karan Nagar Srinagar. This facility provided accommodation for local traders and patients from Kargil when there was a lack of lodging options for the underprivileged in Kashmir.
