Delhi (The Stellar News), Saksham Kalia: On Thursday, Indian Ace wrestler Vinesh Phogatcsaid that she will return all her medals after they had a scuffle with Delhi Police cops.
Indian Olympic Medallists and world Champions including Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and others are protesting at Jantar Mantar against Wrestling Federation Chief Brij Bhushan for sexually Harrassing women players.
These star players are sitting at the national capital since 23rd april and are demanding an FIR against the WFI chief and justice for the women players. Nation’s Pride are spending their days on Jantar Mantar under the open sky and continuous rain has enhanced the difficulties for wrestlers.
“The area is filled with water and there was no place to sleep, so we thought of bringing the cots…,” says wrestler Vinesh Phogat.
On Thursday morning, Wrestlers accused Delhi Police officers for manhandling and thrashing them. Vinesh Phogat with teary eyes said, “The way they have made us suffer, I would not want any athlete to win a medal for the country”.
Few months back, the same protest was started by the wrestlers over the same issues and Ministry of Sports had assured players to enquire the whole matter and took strict action.
An enquiry committee was also made to look into the matter and submit report. But wrestlers alleged that nothing has happened in the matter and people sitting in the committee are same as of the WFI chief.
