Pakistani nationalist crossed international border to kill Nupur Sharma, apprehended by BSF


Rajasthan (The Stellar News): On 16 July, 2022, BSF arrested a Pakistani National around 11 pm from Hindumalkot border outpost in Sri Ganganagar district in Rajasthan. Arrested man has confessed that he crossed international border with the intention to kill Nupur Sharma , who has recently gave controversial remark about Prophet Muhammad.
Anand Sharma, SP Sri Ganganagar said, ‘The 24-year old Pakistani national has been identified as Rizwan Ashraf, a resident of Kuthiyal Shekha locality of Punjab province in Pakistan. He was found by a BSF patrol under suspicious circumstances”. The BSF personnel found two knives, on about 11 inches long, religious texts, clothes and food among his other belongings.
The accused was handed over to the Hindumalkot police. He was presented before the local court and sent to 8-day remand.
Rizwan Ashraf was questioned by a joint interrogation team of the IB, RAW and military intelligence. The SP said, “Rizwan Ashraf told the team that he crossed the international border with the attention of killing Nupur Sharma. He had intended to visit ‘Ajmer Dargah’ to offer a ‘chadar’ before executing the conspiracy”.
The police officer said, “The intruder was so religiously motivated that, though he had no idea where Nupur Sharma resided or how would he reach her, he still crossed the border to execute her”.
Rizwan reportedly attended the meetings of reverends in Pakistan where he made up his mind to cross the border and kill Nupur Sharma.
