Jalandhar (The Stellar News): Along with its main objective of securing international borders, BSF has also always showed commitment towards the social responsibilities. In an initiative to inculcate awareness about environment conservation among the people, a tree plantation drive has organized by BSF Punjab Frontier in and around its locations and along Punjab border under the supervision of Shri Asif Jalal ISP IG BSF Punjab frontier, all sectors DIsG and all Unit Commandants,
Approximately 26,000 saplings have already been planted during this drive, in the ongoing monsoon season. During this drive IG BSF Punjab emphasized on the importance of trees and their implantation for a healthy environment and said that this initiative will go a long way till achieving its target of planting 1,87,500 saplings by September 2022 at various BSF locations under Punjab frontier. The targeted areas are; Gurdaspur sector where the plan is to plant around 50,000 saplings, in Amritsar sector, 43,000 saplings, in Ferozpur sector-44,000, in Abohar sector- 43,000, Arty HQ Faridkot-6,500 and in Ftr HQ Jalandhar the target is to plant around 1,000 saplings.
As the plantation of the trees is very important for the community, BSF hopes that this initiative will go a long way in spreading awareness among the community about environment conservation.
