Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee holds meet with PM Modi at his residence

Delhi (The Stellar News): On Friday, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee reached PM Modi’s residence in New Delhi. The meeting between CM Mamata Banerjee and PM Modi is expected to cover a range of topics, including the long-overdue payment of the GST dues.

During her four-day visit to Delhi, the CM who arrived here on Thursday, is also scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu later on this day. Banerjee’s visit comes in the midst of a major controversy that has erupted in Bengal following the arrest of her formercolleague and cabinet minister Partha Chatterjee in the school jobs scam.

Mamata Banerjee is also likely to attend a Niti Ayog governing a council meeting, which she skipped last year, on August 7, that will be chaired by PM Modi. Banerjee, who is also the Trinmool Congress supremo, on Thursday met her party’s MPs and discussed the party’s strategy during the monsoon session of Parliament and the road to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“Our Chairperson @MamataOfficial held a meeting with all MPs in Delhi. The current Parliament session, the road to 2024 and various issues were discussed, with several activities and initiatives outlines for the coming days. We are always committed to serving the people”, All India Trinamool Congress had said in a tweet.

Mamata Banerjee’s meetings assume significance ahead of the Vice-Presidential election on August 6. The NDA has announced Jagdep Dhankar as its Vice-Presidential candidate while Margaret Alva is the candidate of the opposition of the party.
