Punjab Government health advisor and Head of Covid Expert Committee, Dr KK Talwar, said that, this is the beginning of second wave of covid-19 in state. This time the infection is spreading faster than previous wave. Another thing is that UK mutant strain was found in samples of Punjab.

The UK mutant infects 70% more people, but it is not fatal. This might be due to better health facilities and services. He also added that, it is very difficult to find out that which person had which kind of infection.

In March the cases registered in Punjab was just 401 and today it is 3122 which is 5 times the previous one. Punjab government already imposed night curfew in state. But this had not seen effective at all.
