DGCI APPROVES USE OF MODERNA AS FOURTH COVID VACCINE IN INDIA

Delhi (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: Indian drug regulator gave way to use of moderna to administer as fourth covid vaccine in the country. Cipla, in its application to the drug regulator, had referred to the government’s decision to waive bridging trials for foreign vaccines if it is cleared for emergency use in countries like the US and if the safety assessment data of the first 100 beneficiaries is submitted before mass roll out.

Before this, three vaccines were administrating in the country. These vaccines were Astrazeneca’s Covishield, Bharat Bio-tech’s Covaxin and Russian based Sputnik-V. Now with the permission to Moderna, the availability of vaccine in the country is expected to be increased with the import of Moderna.

Moderna Claims 90% effective against the Covid virus. Moderna is also based on the RNA theory like Pfizer vaccine.
