Income Tax Department Nabbed Gold Smugglers

The Income Tax department has seized 10 kilograms of gold on the basis of intelligence input near Khanna, Ludhiana. The vehicle in which gold was smuggled, resembling a cash van used to transport cash in the banks. The smugglers had prepared this vehicle specially. The smuggled gold crude worth Rs. 4 Crore.

The income tax department team, Patiala, has stopped this cash van near Khanna, Ludhiana, and exposed this illegal business of gold after investigation. According to officials, the gold was brought to India from foreign countries via Mumbai through Courier. It was then transported at Mohali Airport through the air route in order to supply at different places in Punjab.

Excise and Taxation Department’s mobile wing ETO Shilinder Singh said that gold traders often delivers the gold through illegal manner in order to save the GST on gold. The case has been registered, police is continuously interrogating the arrested three offenders.
