Gurgaon Woman Elected as a Sarpanch

Shahnaaz Khan a 24-year-old medical student (MBBS) elected as a Sarpanch of a Village Garhazan in Bharatpur, Mewat.

“People in Mewat area don’t send their daughters to schools. I will present before them my own example to show what education can do for a woman,” Shahnaaz said after taking oath as sarpanch on Monday.

Shahnaaz is a youngest Sarpanch of her village. Shahnaaz’s main aim to make the villagers aware about the sanitation. For example “people of her village die due to tuberculosis. The disease can be cured with a six-month course but people are unaware.”
