JITK karatekas won 7 medals in Asian championship

Hoshiarpur, (The stellar news)- International karate players of Jagmohan’s Institute of Traditional Karate (JITK), furtehring their last year’s exceptional performance at the South Asia Championship,  won three gold, two silver and two bronze medals representing India in the IMAS Asian Open Karate championship held in Jaipur, Rajasthan. In this karate competition which was approved by Karate Association of India, the only authorized national federation of sports karate recognized by the Indian Olympic Association and Ministry of Sports India, 13 countries including , Iran, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Russia, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Tibet participated. More than 600 international karate players from these countries were there to take part in tourney.

-Aditya Bakshi, Paras, Sudha Silhi won gold

Aditya Bakshi and Paras Kumar (both) of Ch. Balbir Singh Public Senior Secondary School Hoshiarpur and Government College, Tanda’s Sudha Silhi won the gold medals for India. Bobby Sharma of Sanatan Dharm Kanya Vidyalaya and LaganPreet Kaur of Rayat Bahra International School had tough fights with Nepal and Bhutan players respectively in the finals but lost 3-2 in tough competition, and both ended up with silver medals. Apart from this, Om Silhi of SAV Jain Day Boarding School and Deepika Joshi of Government Girls School, Railway Mandi, lost in the semi-finals securing bronze medals. Ishan Sharma of The Trinity School, Asalpur, Aarti Kumari of JCT Chauhal and Ashish Thakur of St. Soldier School and Nikhil Thakur of Holy Heart Junior School along with Divyanshi Joshi of Railway Mandi Girls’ Senior Secondary School also performed satisfactorily.

All these Karatekas made their place in the second round of this international karate contest. On the arrival of the players in the Indian team belonging to the JITK to Hoshiarpur, General Secretary Okinawan Gojuryu Karate Federation of India, Advocate Dr. Deepak Sharma and Vice President Gaurav Walia welcomed them and hoped that all these karatekas will now repeat their best performance in the karate contest to be held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and Federation Cup. Deepak congratulated Team Chief Coach Shihan Jagmohan Vij for his outstanding performance and addressing the players, said that Karate has now been established in India as a leading sport and that day is not far when the Indian karatekas will shine high in the world.
