Nanda Devi glacier burst at Chamoli, Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand (The Stellar News), Report: Saksham Kalia: Big part of Nanda Devi glacier burst at Chamoli district of Uttarakhand which submerged in the Alaknanda river system. This burst lead to increase of water in river and which destroyed nearly situated residential areas.

as soon as the information of incident reached higher authorities rescue operations were started. Top rescue teams, Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were deployed. From 200 meters of flooded land, 90 meters is cleared and remained is underway.

Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said that, about 19 peoples had been rescued and about 150 people are still missing. Rescue operations are underway and JCB’s were also deployed. Some Personnel stuck in areas which had been cutted off due to flood, were airlifted by MI-17 helicopters.

Water flooded in Alaknanda river extensively damaged two projects- NTPC”s Tapovan-Vishnugad hydel project and Rishi Ganga hydel project. People working in these two projects were flowed with water. Flooded water also damages a major  bridge and 4 small bridges which cuts connectivity of 15 villages.State Goverenment announced a relief of 4 lakh rupees to families of each who were killed in this disaster.
