Several violators undergo mandatory Covid-19 test besides penalty for not wearing masks at 16 special Nakas in Jalandhar: Deputy Commissioner

Jalandhar (The Stellar News): Tightening noose around those violating Covid appropriate behavior, a large number of violators today underwent a mandatory Covid-19 test besides the penalty at 16 joint Nakas of Police and health department set up across the district.

Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the move aimed at infusing a sense of responsibility among those who don’t adhere to protocols like wearing masks, maintaining social distance, and spitting, etc. He stated that all SDMs were asked to personally monitor these special Nakas and ensure the violators be made to undergo the necessary Covid-19 test besides imposition of the requisite penalty.

The DC added that these Nakas were held at Reru Bypass, Maqsudan Chowk (Near Sabzi Mandi), Nangal shama, BSF Chowk, Near Jalandhar heights, Kang Sabhu Naka, Littran, BSNL Tower Mehatpur, Police station Mehatpur, Seva Kendra Mehatpur, Uggi Naka/govt hospital, T-Point Lohian Khas, Railway Overbridge Shahkot, Salaichan Chowk Shahkot, Satluj bridge, and Near civil hospital Phillaur. The Nakas were equipped with medical staff having Covid-19 testing kits and those not wearing masks were made to have the test, he added.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that it was our collective responsibility to strictly follow the safety precautions to keep all of us from the virus infection. He further added that no laxity in Covid appropriate behavior would be tolerated and any kind of callousness would attract strict action by the enforcement authorities.

Meanwhile, to ensure adequate oxygen supply to level-II, level-III Covid care centers, the deputy commissioner also appointed nodal officers to check the proper oxygen supply from the private plants. Assistant Commissioner Hardeep Singh and Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Jyoti Sharma would be the nodal officers to check any kind of oxygen supply issue if any. He also deployed nodal officers to bridge the gap between the oxygen plants and all 19 private hospitals rendering their services as Covid care facilities. Similarly, nine nodal officers from health, police, and administration were also appointed separately for three private oxygen plants.
