LUDHIANA POLICE SI SLAPS DEPUTY MAYOR DURING RAID IN SCRAP MARKET, FIR LAUNCHED

Moga (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: A high drama incident happened in Ludhiana when a Sub-inspector of Ludhiana Police slapped Deputy Mayor Ashok Dhamjia. As per reports, a team under the sub-inspector Kuldeep Singh reached scrap market in connection with theft of around seven motorbikes, which allegedly sold in Moga District.

The reports said that, the Deputy mayor Ashok Dhamjia, who is also president of Scrap market association tried to intervene in the case and asked police to give him details of case. The CCTV footage which gone viral shows that, sub-inspector Kuldeep Singh allegedly slapped the mayor and then pushed him into the rage.

After the incident congress workers and members of scrap market association launched a protest outside the police station and sought FIR against the official. After noticing the sensitivity of situation, sub inspector stated that, the action taken by him was just the reaction of heat perpetuated at that moment. He also said sorry for his actions. But FIR has been launched against the SI.

“The SHO slapped me and misbehaved…He openly said he has contacts with higher ups so no one can stop him or do any harm,” said Dhamija.

The sub-inspector meanwhile said the slap “was not intentional” but happened “in the heat of the moment”.

Congress’ Moga MLA Dr Harjot Kamal said: “It is gross misbehaviour and high-headedness of the cop. We demand strictest action against him including an FIR. They did not even inform local police about the raid.”
