Illegally smuggled liquor consignment recovered, accused arrested in Rajouri’s Kalakote

J&K/RAJOURI (The Stellar News), Anil Bhardwaj: Foiling a bid to smuggle consignment of illicit liquor, police in Kalakote area of Rajouri district arrested a bootlegger and recovered a consignment of one hundred and eight bottles of liquor from his possession. A police team from Kalakote police station headed by PSI Amit Radhay and ASI Kalidass under the supervision of SHO Kalakote Deepak Pathania laid a routine at Chakli on Rajouri Kalakote road when a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK 11D 3058 coming from Kalakote side was signalled to stop for checking. On checking of the vehicle, 108 bottles of liquor were recovered with driver of the vehicle namely Rinku Kumar son of Ashok Kumar resident of Dali Kalakote was immediately taken into custody and vehicle was seized on spot.

In this connection, case FIR 08/2022 U/S 48 Excise Act has been registered in Police station Kalakote and investigation has been set into motion. SSP Rajouri Mohammad Aslam said that check on trade of illicit liquor is a priority of police for which several smuggling bids have been foiled in recent past and bootleggers have been arrested and put behind bars. He appealed people of the district to share information regarding faces involved in this crime so that they can be booked under law.
