Sri Lanka’s President forced to fled, protester raid the residence

Delhi ( The Stellar News ) : Before protesters entered the compound of the residence and demanded the resignation of the President, he was escorted to the safety and troops fired in the air to prevent the angry crowd from overrunning the President’s residence. This expression of unrest by the Sri Lankan public is due to the months of suffering the civilians are facing due to the shortage of food and fuels, lengthy blackouts and rapidly increasing inflation after the island nation has run out from foreign currency to import vital goods.

The curfew was issued on Friday, July 8, 2022 after the opposition parties, right activists and the bar association threatened to sue the police. Even after the issuing of the curfew thousands of anti- government protesters ignored the stay at home orders and forced railway authorities to operate the trains to join the rally on Saturday, July 9, 2022, to express their distress towards the nation’s unprecedented economical crisis.
