Hoshiarpur (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: On Monday, on the occasion of Independence Day, like every year a celebration event was organised by the Hoshiarpur administration where a clear image of bureaucratic mentality was casted by the organisers. In the event, Punjab’s Land and Mining Minister, Education Minister and the leader of a party which came into power on the promise to bring change in Punjab Harjot Singh Bains was present as the chief guest.
But sadly the change just occurred in the names on the Independence day invitation cards. The main highlights of the function were cultural performances done by the students who reached there from Multiple schools and parade.
There is saying, “The future of a country depends, How country treats its youth and children’. But the kind of treatment participants received from the administration was really shameful.
“Water bottles for chief guest and water tankers for civilians”:
All the guests including Chief Guest Harjot Singh Bains present there were sitting on chairs at stage but the students doing hardwork from last many days to make the event more enjoyable and colourful were sitting on tarts with no facility of fans and coolers in this summer season.
The primary amenities in any such event are water and washrooms other things can stood secondary. But administration sticking to their superiority complex arranged movable washrooms and expensive Mineral water bottles decorated at the glass tables with brand new crockery while the students and awardees were helpless to use dirty washrooms with fungus on all walls of the washroom.
Poor arrangement of garbage management:
Organisers while making arrangements also destroyed the Indian Government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as in premises no dustbins were put to make sure that right garbage management. Everyone including the Police personnel were dumping their used glasses at the side of stage and near trees.
Awardees and freedom fighters got less attention than the bureaucrats:
As per the level of sacrifice, the freedom fighters and awardees should be seated in the first row and should get all the facilities that a chief guest gets when he/she comes in function but the freedom fighters were seated at the third and fourth row on stage and awardees were sitting in a separate tent room with no fans and coolers. Some of the awardees also spoke up their pain when no- one offered them water for a long-time despite of being invited in function.
Why always Ministers for hosting flags:
From last many years it has become tradition that only state ministers or MLA’s will host flag at such events but why don’t the kin of martyrs, social workers, sportspersons, Journalists and personality who has done something exceptional should be given chance to host the flag.
The event is organised by the tax payers money and sadly the tax payers are always ignored still after we completed 75 years of Independence.
