Fazilka district bags the first rank in expenditure under MGNREGA, Panchayat Minister gives the award

Fazilka (The stellar news): Fazilka district bagged first rank in the state by spending the highest amount among the all districts under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Panchayat Minister of Punjab Mr. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal gave a special award to the district during a function held at Chandigarh today for this achievement. While divulging this information Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal IAS said that Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr. Sandeep Kumar has received this award for the district.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal said that Fazilka district has spent Rs 130.41 crore against the target of spending Rs 112 crore so far. She offered her congratulations to all the officers and employees of the Rural Development Department as well as the Panchayats and MGNREGA workers for this achievement. The Deputy Commissioner said that the MGNREGA scheme is proving to be a boon for providing employment to the people in the rural areas as well as to develop the basic infrastructure in rural parts of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner said that special projects have been started under MGNREGA in Fazilka district, out of which My Village My Forest is the unique one among the other district, under which mini forests are being developed in 75 villages of the district during current financial year.

Apart from this, construction of 79 ponds against the target of 75 has been planned in the district under the AmritSarovar scheme and the work of 23 of them has already started. Apart from this, projects are to be done under this to develop structures for rain water conservation in 132 schools. Similarly, a target has been set to build playgrounds in 54 villages this year under MGNREGA. Similarly, the work of making desilting chambers on village ponds in 100 villages is also being done under this scheme this year. Apart from this, during the function held at Chandigarh today, Manjit Kaur, a female mate belonging to the district, has also been honored.
