77TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS BY BORDER SECURITY FORCE PUNJAB FRONTIER

Jalandhar (The Stellar News): On the occasion of 77th Independence Day, Shri Nitin Agrawal, IPS, DG BSF hoisted the National Flag in the premises of 144 Bn BSF, Khasa, Amritsar. DG, BSF congratulated all bordermen, their families and urged them to contribute in the development of the country. On this occasion, the sacrifices made by freedom fighters were remembered.

2. On this occasion, Shri Sanjay Gaur, DIG SHQ Amritsar hoisted the National Flag in the premises of JCP Attari, under Sector HQ BSF Amritsar.

In the evening, the Retreat Ceremony parade was graced by the auspicious presence of Shri Nitin Agrawal, IPS, DG BSF alongwith Smt Smita Agrawal (President BWWA), Shri P V Ramasastry, IPS, SDG (Western Command) Chandigarh and Dr Atul Fulzele, IPS IG BSF Punjab Frontier. Various cultural programmes such as Bhangra / Gidda / Fusion dance were performed by the students from schools and colleges of Amritsar, Punjab. Besides this, Arms drill by BSF Mahila BOLDS team and the combined performance by the BSF & Army Brass Band left the spectators mesmerized.

4. On this occasion, sweets / pleasantries were exchanged between BSF and Pakistan Rangers at various locations on the border.

5. DG BSF was briefed by Dr. Atul Fulzele, IPS, IG, BSF Punjab Frontier about various Operational and Administrative activities undertaken by Punjab Frontier. DG BSF appreciated the efforts of all bordermen in theircrucial role of safeguarding the borders and preventing trans-border crimes, especially Punjab Frontier for seizure of 273 Kgs Heroin, 34 Drones, 19 Arms, 468 Amn and apprehension of 16 smugglers along Punjab borderduring the year 2023, till date. He congratulated BSF and local population for active participation in making ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ & ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ campaign successful and appreciated the mass Plantation drive being carried-out by BSF for developing a green and healthy environment for all.

6. At Frontier HQrs BSF, Jalandhar (Punjab), Shri S P S Sandhu, DIG (Comn). hoisted the national flag and sweets were distributed among the troops. On this occasion, students of BSF Sr. Sec. School, Primary School and BSF Ankur Play School, Jalandhar performed various cultural programmes showcasing the diverse culture of India with full enthusiasm.

7. All the BSF Units / Sectors / Establishments under Punjab Frontier celebrated the 77th Independence Day with uncontainable nationalistic fervour at their respective locations.
