Mother Tongues should be a mandatory subject

The Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu appealed all the state governments to make mother tongue a mandatory subject at least up to high school level while he was delivering 11th convocation at Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences.

He stated that child can understand his/her mother tongue language in more effective manner than other languages. Moreover, we can express our views and thoughts more easily by speaking our native language.

 India is a diverse country, mother tongue defines the culture and region of people. In order to strengthen our region and culture, we have to preserve our mother tongue. “Language is a life line of culture”, he added.
