Guwahati (The Stellar News): On the new year day, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal urged the newly selected ACS, APS & allied services officers to work as the people’s servants. The senior BJP leader also asked to dedicate themselves in upholding ethical values with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s principles of sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka viswas. Interacting with the successful candidates of the combined competitive examination (conducted in 2018 by Assam Public Service Commission) in a program held in the city, Sonowal commented that the fight carried out against corruptions by the State government had brought significant reforms in the APSC to facilitate entry of meritorious candidates into the government services. He asked the newly selected officers to work dedicatedly to make Assam a corruption-free State. The energetic chief minister observed that the success of these candidates who were selected in the most transparent manner would carry the message of ethical values in every nook & corner of the State.
Their achievement would also inspire younger generation to opt for public service, stated Sonowal adding that the overall positive ambience would also help everyone in the society to get benefits out of government schemes equitably. Stating that during last four & half years, the BJP led coalition government in Dispur carried out a relentless fight against corruption, Sonowal in presence of CM’s media adviser Hrishikesh Goswami, State chief secretary Jishnu Baruah, legislator Rituparna Baruah with other senior officers, expressed hope that the people themselves would soon take collective responsibility to weed out corruption from the society. In another meeting on 1 January 2021, Sonowal interacted with a group of city based editor-journalists and urged them to continue constructive criticism against the government functions. Appreciating the media persons for their commitments shown to the society, the soft-spoken politician opined that their inputs help the government to improve its developmental works meant for the entire populace of the
State.
