Governor inaugurates Photo Exhibition on Amrit Mahotsav of Independence

Himachal (The Stellar News): Governor Bandaru Dattatraya today inaugurated the Photo Exhibition organized at the historic Ridge Maidan in Shimla under the aegis of Regional Outreach Bureau Chandigarh, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and Department of Language and Culture, Himachal Pradesh. The exhibition is organized under the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence on 75th anniversary of the independence of India. On this occasion, Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj and Mayor Municipal Corporation, Shimla Satya Kaundal were also present. The Governor paid a floral tribute on the statue of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on the ridge and inaugurated the Amrit Festival in the State to mark the completion of 75 years of independence. 12th March is the anniversary of the commencement of the Dandi March, which is one of the important events of India’s freedom struggle. It ended on 5th April after running for 25 days.

On the occasion, the Governor said that the Amrit Mahotsav was organized to make the younger generation aware about the freedom struggle between 1857 and 1947, the development of the country in 75 years of independence and to show the picture of Vishwaguru India till the completion of 100 years of independence. It would be celebrated at 75 places in the country to make people understand the importance of the freedom and freedom struggle of the country. He said that many freedom movements had also been initiated in Himachal Pradesh. The Praja Mandals formed in different parts of the state created a wave of revolution within the people of the State. Remembering all the patriots, this Independence the Amrit Festival would be organized on a wide scale, he added. Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi, Director, Information and Public Relations Harbans Singh Brascon, Director, Language, Art & Culture Sunil Sharma, Councillors and other prominent people were also present on the occasion.
