India beat Pakistan to register their third straight win and seal a place in the quarter-finals of the tournament

Indian Hockey team got their third consecutive victory and stole a place in the Quarter-Finals of the Hockey World League Semi-Final on Sunday.  India demolished Pakistan’s Hockey team with an astounding 7-1 victory. Indians dominated their arch-rivals throughout the match to post a tremendous win and jumped the top of Pool B ahead of Netherlands. Harmanpreet Singh, Talwinder Singh, Akashdeep Singh and Pradeep Mor scored for India at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, while Pakistan’s only goal came through the hands of Muhammad Umar Bhutta.

This was India’s biggest win over Pakistan, improving upon the 7-4 victory arch-rivals in 2003 Champions Trophy and 2010 Commonwealth Games. India is now on top in Pool B with three wins from as many games, just ahead of Netherlands, who are at the second place, leaving Pakistan, at the bottom of the pool after losing all three matches they have played so far.

India will next play The Netherlands on Tuesday, while Pakistan will face Scotland on Monday. Pakistan started brilliantly with scoring in the first 10 minutes. But with the Indian players exhibiting terrific form Pakistan’s team was left with no choice but to play catch-up. Harmanpreet gave India the lead in the 13th minute, converting a penalty corner with a low grounded shot. Indian’s scored three goals before half-time and within three minutes after returning to the field scored another one. During the game, Pakistan had their fair share of chances to score but the alert Indians fouled their attempts.
