Jalandhar (The Stellar News):Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today asked officials of various departments to adopt a multi-pronged strategy to keep the case fatality rate (CFR) in Covid-19 cases under check.
Presiding over a Covid-19 review meeting here at district administrative complex, Mr. Thori accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioners (D,G) Vishesh Sarangal, and Jasbir Singh respectively, emphasized the need for the application of early detection and early treatment formula to prevent casualties. He also directed officials to continue with maximum vaccination to boost immunity level in vulnerable groups. He stated that as many as 71751 eligible beneficiaries have been inoculated in the district, which includes 24703 senior citizens and 6525 beneficiaries between the age group of 45 and 59 with co-morbidities. Mr. Thori stated that within a few days the session sites for Covid-19 vaccination would cross the mark of 100 along with the capacity of vaccinating more than 10,000 people daily. He called upon people to come forward in huge numbers for the vaccination so that this new wave could be tackled effectively.
The deputy commissioner categorically mentioned that the early detection of the virus could play a pivotal role to keep the mortality under check as the healthcare authorities would be able to start treatment of positive patients before the situation gets worse. He ordered the authorities to do maximum sampling of potential virus carriers including flue corners of hospitals and places where mass gatherings were reported. The DC said this methodology would ensure the detection of maximum positive patients, hence enabling the authorities to begin with the timely treatment. He also asked officials to make a regular visit in private covid care centers to ensure the availability of level-II, and level-III beds to prevent any kind of exigency, if occurs. He asked officials to ensure curfew like strictness in the micro containment zones to curtail the virus spread.
Meanwhile, he also reviewed the progress of AB- Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna in Jalandhar and asked officials to extend benefit of this scheme to remaining beneficiaries.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Balwant Singh, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Jyoti, SDMs Gaurav Jain, Dr. Jai Inder Singh, and other officers/officials were present on the occasion.
