ON DC’s DIRECTIVES HEALTH TEAM RAIDS UNAUTHORIZED CLINIC AT GURU NANAK PURA, SEIZES 4600 CAPSULES AND MEDICINES

Jalandhar, July 21: On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, a health team on Wedneaday transacted an inspection at a clinic in Guru Nanak Pura West locality and seized 4600 tablets and capsules, 186 injections.

Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner said that a complaint was received highlighting illegal medical practice at Taliwalia clinic situated in Guru Nanak Pura west. He stated that Civil Surgeon Jalandhar Dr. Balwinder Singh had been given directions in this regard following a health team comprising District Health Officer Dr. Arun Verma and Drug Control Officer Dr. Amarjit Singh conducted a raid.

Pointing out further, Drug Control Officer Dr. Amarjit Singh said that owner of the clinic Surinder Singh was present in the clinic, who couldn’t produce any valid doctor’s degree to practice allopathy. Moreover, no license was furnished to store or sale allopathic medicines leading to seizures of these drugs, he added. Dr. Singh also stated that as many as 25 types of various drugs have been confiscated from the clinic. These medicines included 3930 tablets, 670 capsules, and 186 injections worth Rs. 30,000 and there was no record of this stock.

The Drug Control Officer further stated that a notice under drugs and cosmetic act would be issued to him. Further, a case would be filed in the court after obtaining reply from the clinic owner.
