Delhi (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: A daughter of three wheeler driver who doesn’t have good financial condition but despite of that she did some extra-ordinary thing. Hidilyn Diaz is one who won first gold medal for her country Philippines where it was like a draught for them from nearly 100 years.
With the lift of 127kg weight in 55Kg category of weight-lifting Hidilyn Diaz won gold medal beating the Chinese weight-lifter who already crossed 2kg above the world record. But giving her best she beat Chinese and set record for others. This was not easy as Chinese was poised to sweep three divisions but Hidilyn made sure that it doesn’t happen.
“It’s unbelievable,” she said, caressing the gold medal hanging on her neck. “I expected to win, but when you hold this already, it’s like, Wow, I never thought this would happen today.” In a report she also showed her desire of eating a lot that she missed in last two days. She sacrificed her food for the competition but this seems small when you got to know that she didn’t met her family from last 2 years.
With the win, whole Philippine country showered tributes on Olympic gold medal winner, congratulated and appreciated for her tremendous play. Social media got filled with the congratulation messages and photos of Hidilyn after she won gold medal.
As everyone knows that she won gold medal for her country but just some of us know that what kind of hard work she did to earn that medal. She participated four times in Olympics but can someone believe that there was a time when she decided to quit Weight lifting.
She won silver medal as a surprise for everyone in 2016 Rio Olympics. She and her trainers, authorities decided to not stop there and win gold medal in Tokyo Olympics. But she didn’t have money to participate in Olympics 2020, for this she asked others to help. But now all the sacrifices, loses, hard work is finally worth for her.
