MIGRATORY PULSE POLIO ROUND TO BEGIN FROM SEPT 26: DC

Jalandhar (The Stellar News): The three day long migratory pulse polio drive would begin from September 26, wherein as many as 131761 children to be covered with anti-police vaccine drops, said Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori while presiding over the meeting of district health society   to review the preparedness for this drive.

The DC said that children up to five years of age to be covered during the drive as about 1047 teams would conduct door to door visits to administer the anti-polio vaccine drops by visiting 290800 houses. He also mentioned that during these three days the permanent camps would be set up at the Railway station and Bus Stand to cover maximum beneficiaries. 

Mr. Thori exhorted people to ensure their children from zero to five get the polio drops in nearby polio booths during these days. He added that only through people’s cooperation the war against polio disease could be won over. The DC stated that the health department has constituted 1047 teams including 980 house to house teans, 54 mobile teams with a mission to cover 796 high risk areas.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the health department to lay focus on high-risk migratory population by making special visits to construction sites and brick kilns. He appealed to the residents to assist the health teams in carrying out this drive successfully. Prominent among others present on the occasion included Civil Surgeon Dr. Balwant Singh, District Immunization Officer Dr. Rakesh Chopra, and others.
