Public hearing of minor mineral block no 29 Dhara Morha of Poonch District.

J&K/POONCHH (The Stellar News): Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Basharat Hussain today presided over the proceedings of the Public hearing for Minor Mineral (River Bed Material) Project at Govt High. Sec. School Bufliaz.The project envisages mining sand in an area of 8.50 hectares at Block No 29 at Suran River upstream, Dhara Mohra bufliaz of district Poonch. During the hearing, the PRI members and locals raised various mining related issues. They demanded strict action against illegal mining and complained that many children have drowned into the river due to illegal mining. They sought preference to the locals while issuing tenders so that unemployed youth can avail the benefit.

The ADC Dr Basharat Hussain made the locals aware regarding the proposed riverbed mining project. He advised the people to immediately inform the local Panchayat or administration about any attempt of illegal mining so that strict action could be taken against the culprit. He assured that the genuine concerns of the locals for reasonable rates of minor minerals and mining rights to their respective villages shall be appropriately addressed. SDM Surankote Nayeem ul Nisa, Tehsildar Surankote Sheraz Chouhan, DMO Poonch Javid Iqbal and District officer PCC Poonch Mukesh Bali were also present on the public hearing. The Public hearing concluded with vote of thanks by representative of Pollution of regional director PCC Anupm Koul.
