Amritsar (The Stellar news): Ftr HQrs BSF Punjab organized a “Seema Prahari IOCL Marathon – 2022” to celebrate “Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav” with theme “Marathon Hand in Hand with Border Population” at JCP Attari, Amritsar sector on 27th Mar ‘ 2022. Army,CAPF,Police personnel alongwith civilians above 18 years (men & women) in three categories, i.e. Full Marathon (42 Kms), Half Marathon (21 Kms) and 05 Kms took part during the marathon. 2. The “BSF Seema Prahari IOCL Marathon – 2022” Full Marathon was flagged off from Golden Gate, Amritsar by Shri Nana Patekar, Padma Shri at 0500 hrs, Half Marathon from India Gate at 0600 hrs by DG BSF, Sh Pankaj Kumar Singh, IPS and 05 km run by Sh P V Ramasastry, IPS, ADG (WC) BSF at 0630 hrs, with all runs culminating at JCP Attari. 3. Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh, IPS, Director General, BSF, Shri Nana Patekar, Padma Shri and Sh PV Ramasastry, IPS, ADG (WC) welcomed the participants at the finishing point. 4. Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh, IPS, Director General, BSF, Smt Nupur Singh, President BWWA, Sh PV Ramasastry, IPS, ADG (WC) BSF and Shri Nana Patekar, Padma Shri, presented the Prizes, Medals and Certificates to the Winners and participants of the “BSF Seema Prahari IOCL Marathon – 2022”. Out of 515 registrations for the marathon, 498 participated in the event in different categories, i.e for full – marathon 82 Nos, for half – marathon 193 Nos and for 5 Kms 183 Nos. DG BSF specially applauded the active participation by Puran Kaur (age 65 Years) and Amar Singh (age 70 Years) in the marathon. Result sheet of the Marathon Winners is attached. 5. A cultural performance was also presented at JCP Attari. The Director General appreciated the efforts made by ADG (WC), IG, PB FTR, DIG, Amritsar and all Officers and Jawans of Punjab Frontier, who made this Marathon a success and reiterated to conduct such marathon on the yearly basis. A marathon for the brave Divyangs of BSF will be conducted during the month of Sept’ 2022, which will start from New Delhi and terminate at JCP Attari.
DG BSF emphasized the importance of physical fitness in the daily routine for a healthy mind. DG BSF further praised the BSF personnel for their active participation in this marathon and added that a “Seema Bhawani expedition ride” covering almost 5280 Kms is also going to terminate at Chennai on 28/03/2022. He also thanked Indian Oil Cooperation Ltd, SBI, SMILE foundation, ICE College of Hotel Management, Oxygen club, Fast and Up and others who had been a great support in making this Marathon a huge success. 6. Sh Nana patekar while interacting with media appreciated the efforts of BSF in organising the marathon 7. The BSF Seema Prahari IOCL Marathon 2022′ was conducted to celebrate 75 years of independence (Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav) and was aimed to promote the spirit of adventure and enterprise among the population particularly youths from bordering areas. This marathon has inspired the youth of border area and promoted spirit of National Integration and patriotism amongst public. It has created awareness among public towards the onerous task of Border Management performed by BSF in a challenging environment.
