Centre to introduce anti-trafficking bill in monsoon session of Parliament


Delhi ( The Stellar News ): For the protection of human trafficking victims, especially women and children and to fight and prevent the trafficking cases, the trafficking of person (Protection, care, rehabilitation) Bill 2022 will be introduced in the monsoon session of parliament for consideration and passing. The bill seeks to prevent and fight trafficking of people and provide care, protection, rehabilitation and assistance to the victims while respecting their privacy and rights and creating a supportive, social, and economic environment to help them in starting their lives again and for improving their mental health.

In the draft bill it is also stated that the person found guilty of trafficking will face the imprisonment of no less than seven years which can extend to ten years as well and will be charged with the fine of not less than Rs. 1 lakh that can extend to Rs. 5 lakh. For the offenders that will come under the category of aggravated forms of trafficking will face severe punishments. Various anti-human trafficking activists and NGOs have been demanding the early passage of the bill in the Parliament. The monsoon session of the Parliament is scheduled to be start from July 18, 2022 and will continue till August 2022.
