IMF PRAISED INDIA’s DIRECT CASH TRANSFER, CALLED IT “LOGISTICAL MARVEL”

New Delhi (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: Paolo Mauro, Deputy Director, IMF Fiscal Affairs Department in a recent statement praised India’s use of unique identity system, Aadhar. Mauro calling the India’s use of unique identity system for such a large millions of population as quite impressive.

Mauro was speaking about the IMF table, in the Fiscal monitor that looks at some examples of how countries deploy cash transfers and generally social programmes. Speaking about India, he added that the social schemes seek to help children, women and farmers are reaching millions of people who have lower level of incomes.

Mentioning the India way of deploying funds added, “In India people are sending money to people who actually don’t have a whole lot of money but they have a cell phone”.

In 2022, over 260 million people used the UPI and 150 million used Adhar enabled system. Recently, IMF has publicised its table for emerging economies.
