J&K/Awantipora (The Stellar News): Acting tough against social crimes, Police in Awantipora have arrested 03 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession. Acting on specific information about gambling activities in Khrew, a police party of Police Station Khrew headed by SHO PS Khrew Inspector Manzoor Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad-JKPS raided the specific site and arrested 03 gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Ahanger son of Gh Ahmad Ahanger resident of Khanmouh, Nisar Ahmad Ahanger son of Mohd Kamal Ahanger and Mudasir Ahmad Gogri son of Lal Mohd Gogri both residents of Shar Shali.
Police have seized stake money of ₹7180/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 31/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khrew and investigation has been taken up. People found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
