The Stellar News (Hoshiarpur), Report: Sameer Saini- Pimacon , the State level conference of Punjab State IMA which started yesterday 20 Jan. was formally inaugurated by Shri Brahm Mahindra, Hon’ble Health Minister of Punjab, today 21 Jan. More than 1200 doctors from all over the state and adjoining areas are attending this conference. More than 12 specialists from DMC Ludhiana, Govt Medical College, Patiala, PIMS Jalandhar and other institutions of Punjab delivered their talks and had interaction with the doctors.
Shri Mahindra while addressing the gathering felt concerned about the increasing incidence of violence and assured the gathering that all the possible efforts will be made to safeguard the medical community but asked the doctors to introspect the reasons behind the declining doctor patient trust. He declared that govt. will oppose the national Medical Commission bill tooth & nail. Shri Mahindra declared that all the doctors will be given full pay right from the time of joining. He said that a proposal to increase the salary of super-specialists to Rs. 175,000/- per month has also been sent to the finance department. Mr. Mahindra sought the cooperation of IMA for implementing national programs. Shri Mahindra also released a souvenir on the occasion. Dr. Jaspal Kaur, Director Health Services, Punjab, Dr. Renu Sud Civil surgeon, Hoshiarpur were also present.
Dr Jatinder Kansal from Patiala was installed as the Next State President. Dr.Kuldip Singh, adviser to state IMA thanked the chief guest and the audience for an overwhelming response.
