Amritsar: Mother-Daughter Murder Case Solved

On Thursday, Amritsar police cracked the murder mystery of woman Gagan Verma (41) and her daughter Shivnaini (21), as their burnt bodies were found from their house in Darshan Nagar locality, Amritsar on 6 February, Tuesday. The culprits are identified as, Pankaj (20) and Neeraj (18) residents of Chhehrata, Amritsar. Both of them are under police custody.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Lakhbir Singh, Pankaj is a friend of Gagan’s son, who is studying in Canada. Earlier, Pankaj worked in a cloth shop, but recently, he was jobless. Pankaj and his friend Neeraj created a plan to steal money from Gagan’s home.

During the interrogation Pankaj revealed that, he and his friend Neeraj went to Gagan’s house in order to fulfill their plan. They also carried chloroform with them. He stated that he first made Gagan unconscious by giving her high dose of chloroform and then tried to rape her. When he didn’t notice any kind of moment from Gagan’s side he wrapped her body in a blanket.

Then he moved upstairs, where Gagan’s daughter Shivnaini was watching TV. Pankaj repeated the same, he gave chloroform to her and tried to rape her, but when he noticed that she was not breathing he called Neeraj to the room. Then both decided to burn them.

Police also obtained Motorbike, Camera and tablets from the crime spot. The case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC.
