The participants including cultural activists, academics, film personalities, Satradhikars, journalists, etc chanted slogans condemning the Indian National Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena coalition government of Maharashtra for atrociously arresting Goswami, who incidentally hails from Assam’s prehistoric city of Guwahati, and displayed placards and large banners. They also demanded Goswami’s urgent release unanimously.

Earlier in separate occasions, the people of Assam staged protest demonstrations against his arrest. Various journalist’s bodies, youth groups and citizen’s forums, etc expressed their agonies at the manner in which Goswami was picked up from his residence in Mumbai by the police for an apparently closed case. Besides him, the entire journalist-team of Republic Media Network was subjected to face FIRs by the Mumbai police department.
