Implement ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ by July 31: SC

New Delhi (The Stellar News): The Supreme Court on Tuesday order the states and Union Territories to implement “One Nation, One Ration Card” scheme by July 31 and directed that they should also run a community kitchen to feed migrants till the end of the pandemic, reported by news agency. The center directed to distribute free dry ration among migrants till the situation eases. A bench of Justice Ashok Bhushan and M.R. Shah held on June 11 reserved its judgement on pleas of activities Anjali Bharadwaj , Harsh Mander and Jagdeep Choker seeks implementing the welfare measures for migrant workers.

Covid-19 second wave had hit hard to migrant workers. The bench said this ration schemes is for migrant workers as it allows migrant worker to get ration at their workplace in other states as well, if there card is not registered. The bench said this is the welfare scheme for the welfare of people. The bench of justice also directed the center to generate a portal with the help of the National Informatics Centre(NIC) for the workers of unorganised sector for granting them the benefits of this welfare schemes by July 31. They also directed States and UT’s  to run community kitchen for the welfare of the migrant workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
