J&K/Kathua (The Stellar News)Anil Bhardwaj: Social Welfare Department, Kathua in collaboration with Radio Channel Top FM 91.1 today orgainzed an awareness programme on Drug Demand Reduction at Government Degree College Kathua today. Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Yadav was the Chief guest on the ocassion. The programme witnessed a brainstorming session where experts from Legal and Medical background threw light on the topic. The Deputy Commissioner in his address called for collective effort from all stakeholders to minimise the drug abuse in the society. He said besides a proper vigil from Police department civil society must come forward to bring forward any such incidents of drug abuse which otherwise can be a threat for all if not attended timely.
He expressed hope that such programme will be held on regular scale as it helps to sensitize the society in general and youngsters in particular who must refrain from Drugs and channelise their energies in better ways. He suggested youth to take Sports as a medium to express themselves as it bring in the spirit of competitiveness and art to accept the failure. While appreciating the initiative taken by Social Welfare Department which he termed as a step to show right path to the young students who are the asset of the country. Earlier President Bar Association, Kathua Adv Ajatshatru Sharma and Dr Sandeep Raina briefed the students about the medical and legal implications of drug abuse.
DSWO Kathua Abdul Rahim in his concluding remarks expressed hope that message of Drug Demand Reduction will be carried forward to the society through participating students. He said the department will continue to aware the society about the hbo practice of drug menace. Faculty members and numbers of colleges students attended the programme.The event concluded with pledge on Drug Demand Reduction by notable social activist sukhdev singh and all participants present during the event.
