J&K/JAMMU (The Stellar News), Anil Bhardwaj: A deputation of All India Confederation of SC ST OBC Organisations J&K met Raj Kumar Goyal, IAS, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Home Department today. The deputation was led by RK Kalsotra, State President Confederation. Other members included Mohd Abdhullah Ch Former General Secy Confederation and Suresh Kumar State Coordinator NSYF. RK Kalsotra, State President Confederation, said that the agenda of the meeting was to greet RK Goyal, who has been appointed as the Financial Commissioner, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department. RK Kalsotra extended his greetings to Mr Goyal and wished for his fruitful tenure ahead. Moreover, the issues concerning Caste-based atrocities were also discussed in the meeting. Kalsotra opined that SC/ST Atrocities Act was made applicable to UT J&K after abrogation of Article 370. But still it’s not being implemented in letter and spirit. Kalsotra shared his personal experience with the various instances of Caste based atrocities committed against the SC/ST community.
Kalsotra mentioned that the state machinary is not efficient when it comes to implementation of the SC/ST Act wherein the reports are not filled properly and often cases are dismissed or settlement outside the purview of the law concerning. Previously, the confederation had suggested that the police force should be trained and made aware about the technicalities of the act and cases should be registered without any delay. Mr Goyal paid his a detailed attention to the meeting and assured that in future he should be made party to any such cases where the report is not filled according to the provisions of the act. Kalsotra and other members of the deputation were grateful to Mr Goyal.
