Murchana Music Education Centre’s Musical Evening Mesmerises All

Guwahati (The Stellar News): It was indeed an evening to cherish for a packed audience of music lovers, parents and guardians, who were held spellbound by a stimulating cultural show at the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Auditorium of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati, recently.

The renowned Murchana Music Education Center organised the event, which featured incredible vocal and instrumental performances in Assamese, Hindi, and Western music that left the audience in awe, much like in previous years.

Founded in 2000, the Murchana Music Education Center has pioneered dedicated training courses for learners of all age groups in both online and offline modes.

Affiliated to Musicea Arts and Culture Council, the institute offers lessons in various musical disciplines, such as guitar, piano, keyboard, violin, vocal music, tabla, and more.

Under the guidance of its esteemed teachers and principals, Hiranya Kalita and Barnali Kalita, the institute has garnered accolades for its integrated approach to music education, promoting competency and interest among students.

The couple also strives to nurture practical experience by providing regular opportunities for students to perform on stage.

The evening commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony and floral tributes paid to the portraits of renowned artists Sudakshina Sharma and Rishiraj Sharma by the state’s noted philanthropist, Debojit Borkakati, and the institute’s principal, Hiranya Kalita.

The stage came alive with budding artists showcasing their musical prowess. They enthralled the audience with soulful renditions on guitar, keyboard, piano, and violin and mesmerising vocal performances.

The cultural programme began with a chorus, performed by the students along with some parents, decorated with lyrics, tunes and music by Hiranya Kalita, the institute principal. It was followed by Ananyashree Baruah’s graceful Sattriya dance, Ayan Kalita’s heartfelt piano rendition of ‘My Heart Will Go On’, Rahul Sen’s captivating vocal rendition of ‘Kopou Pahi Ture Khupat’, Chonee Kalita’s delightful piano rendition of ‘See You Again’ Nikunj Bawri’s guitar performance of ‘Gori Tera Gaon Bada Pyara’ and Dheemanta Kumar Baruah’s soul-stirring guitar rendition of Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s classic ‘Manuhe Manuhar Babe.’

The audience was spellbound as Aymen Asman Ali, Devanuj Gogoi, Sumanshree Das, Pragyashree Nath, Ayan Kalita, Jisha Agarwala, Lokaksh Borkakoty, Tejanshi Jayantom, Navya Bawri, Dheemanta Kumar Baruah and other talented students showcased their exceptional skills on various instruments and mesmerised everyone with their soulful vocal performances.

The cultural programme also showcased a group of 15 keyboard trainees performing the popular Hindi song ‘Mera Dil Ye Pukare Aaja’ as well as a guitar playing group with as many as 25 members performing Bishnu Prasad Rabha’s evergreen song ‘Roi Roi Keteki’.

The event also recognised outstanding achievements, with Jasleen Kaur being felicitated for achieving the best result in the 2022 Keyboard exam. Jasleen received a cheque of Rs 11,111, a shawl, a certificate, a phulam gamosa, and a music scholarship for the current year.

Certificates and mementos were also distributed among the students, who have excelled in various subjects of music in 2022.

The various other students who contributed with their vocal and instrumental performances were Divyanshu Baruah, Shems Hazarika, Trailoikya Choudhury, Kritartha Kanta Baruah, Dhanistha Devi, Aryan Raj Kakati, Lavya Agarwala, Laksheta Rijal, Harshvardhan Boro, Aranyak Spondon Sarma, Parikshit Boro, Mrinav Chaliha, Prithika Priyadarshini Kashyap, Bidisha Das, Ayan Jyoti Das, Kunal Saha, Dr Ranjana Goswami, Suryansh Pratim Das, Slikh Saha, Pompi Jayantom, Jyotismita Gautam and Alisha Gogoi, among others.

The evening concluded on a high note with a heartwarming rendition of ‘Om Jai Jagdish Hare,’ beautifully performed on keyboard and guitar by the talented students of the Murchana Music Education Centre.

Gitashree Bhagawati and Mridula Sarmah seamlessly anchored the entire event, adding charm to an already captivating evening. The Murchana Music Education Centre’s annual cultural event of 2023 was undoubtedly a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
