J&K/RAJOURI (The Stellar News), Anil Bhardwaj: Continuing its efforts to take stern action against notorious criminals and to take adequate preventive measures against their unlawful activities, Rajouri police has booked another notorious criminal under Public Safety Act (PSA) which is third such detention in this week. The notorious criminal namely Amjad Mehmood son of Mohd Zafar resident of Bada Kana, Tehsil Thanamandi, Rajouri has been booked under Public Safety Act for repeated criminal activities which are highly prejudicial and detrimental to the maintenance of public order.
The accused has not changed his behaviour inspite of lodging multiple FIRs against him and arrests by Police number of times. He is hell bent upon carrying burgalries, thefts and extortion in different parts of J&K and such activities are likely to disturb public order particularly in Rajouri District. Keeping in view the activities of said accused as his activities amounts to pose serious threat to public order and deserves to be taken into preventive custody, as such, the accused is ordered to be detained under section 8 (1) (a) (i) read with clause (ii) of sub-section (2) of section 8 of Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act. Detention order of accused was issued by District Magistrate Rajouri who is the competent authority while this order has been executed by a team of police headed by SHO Thanamandi Hilal Azhar under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed.
SSP Rajouri Amritpal Singh (IPS) while reiterating the commitment of police in maintenance of order in the district said that notorious criminals are being detained as a measure to check their attempts of more unlawful acts and many such detentions have been made in recent past with people from all walks of life are extending their cooperation in this action of police.
