Rajouri Adm celebrates National Girl Child Day with great enthusiasm

J&K/Rajouri (The Stellar News) Report: Anil Bhardwaj.District Administration Rajouri today celebrated the National Girl Child day with verve in the district.

The program was held in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak Bunglow where Additional District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Pawan Kumar was the chief guest during the event. Among the others, CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh;MS GMC, Dr Mehmood Hussain Bajar; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt, Shivangi Kant Sudan, Needhi Sharma,Neetu Sharma and other officers were also present during the event.

Addressing the event, the ADDC said that the District Administration is committed to take all possible measures for the socioeconomic development of the women in the society to make them independent and live a dignified life in the society.

Highlighting the significance of the day, he said that the day aims to create awareness about the rights of the girl child, the importance of girl education and the health of girl child. It also to shed light on issues such as female infanticide, gender inequality and physical abuse faced by the girls.

Expressing the need to take collective measures for the welfare of the women folk, the ADDC called for sustained efforts to remove gender bias and encourage girls at all levels for their systematic development.

Enlisting various initiatives being taken for the welfare of the women by the Government, he asked the concerned officers to make the women aware of various legal and social sector initiatives to enable them to avail the benefits of the same.

He also asked them to strive hard to make changes in the society by spreading the message of ‘save girl child’ and to remove prejudices against the girl child.

Besides, District Programme Officer, Kartar Singh; MS GMC, Dr Mehmood Hussain Bajar; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhat also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of the day.

Girls of the district who showed excellence in sports, education and other activities including Aasia Mehmood; Swati; Vishakha Sharma; Manju Manhas; Jyoti Devi; Sabeena Chowdhury; Yasmeen Kouser; Shilpa Charak; Amreen Anjum; Jeevan Jyoti Jamwal; Vanshika Thakur and Sharnaya Gupta were also felicitated with cash prize of Rs 10000 each and momentos.
