New Delhi (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: Dolo, Largest used medicine in the times of corona pandemic or while the vaccination drive launched by the union government last year is accused in distributing Rs 1000 cr freebies to doctors. These freebies were for prescribing their medicine to the people having any problems of headache, fever and pain.
Senior Advocate, Sanjay Parikh appearing on behalf of the Association, informed a Bench comprising Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and A.S. Bopanna that the Dolo 550 mg price was already regulated but the prices of higher dose medicines are decided by the companies so these freebies were used to increase the profit so that doctors will prescribe higher dose medicine of Dolo.
A bench of Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and A.S. Bopanna asked the Union government to file its response on the matter within 10 days. It gave one week time thereafter to the petitioner to file his rejoinder.
“This is not music to ears. Even I was asked to have same medicine when I had COVID. This is a serious matter,” said Justice Chandrachud.
