Faculty of Hospitality at GNA University organised ‘National Nutrition Week 2022’

Hoshiarpur (The stellar news): Faculty of Hospitality at GNA University organised ‘National Nutrition Week 2022’. The objective behind celebrating national nutrition week was to make students aware of the role of nutrition to maintain good health in the present scenario of global health crisis. National Nutrition Week is celebrated every year from 1 st September to 07 th September since 2018. This year the theme was ‘Celebrate a World of Flavours’. During this special week at the University, different activities like Poster making, quiz on Food and Nutrition, preparation of Detox and Immunity Booster Beverages, Balanced and healthy food were some of the activities that were organised at a gala level.

An expert talk on ‘Health Is Our True Wealth’ was delivered by Dr.  Shivali Malhotra, Director of Sales & Operations, Fitness & Lifestyle, Platinum 08 Diet Clinic & Fitness Centre. She drummed up to switch our dietary habits to the traditional diet. She recommended staying close to the roots and invoked to include local grown ingredients in our day to day diet for good health and save our wealth than spending on diseases. The session was informative, insightful and thought provoking.

The valedictory session was held in the benign presence of the Chief Guest, Ms. Jasleen Sihra, an eminent nutritionist. As Ms. Sihra is from the Health and Nutrition background, she shared her experiences by giving examples of pandemic that how people suffered due to bad health choices and guided the students to use their time wisely by choosing the right healthy options. Among other dignitaries present was Dr.  V. K Rattan, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Hemant Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Monika Hanspal, Dean Academic Affairs, Dr.  Deepak Kumar, Dean Faculty of Hospitality and Prof. M. P. Singh, Dean Applied Healthcare & Sciences.
