Hoshairpur (The Stellar News) Saksham Kalia: Senior Congress Leader and Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is leading a country wide foot march, Bharat Jodo Yatra claiming it a way to eliminate hatred and anger from the country that Congress said enhanced by the ruling party BJP.
The Yatra started from Kanyakumari in September and is towards its end as on January 30 in Jammu and Kashmir. Rahul along with his senior party leaders, hundreds of party workers and fully loaded infrastructure including sleeping containers specially designed for the Bharat Jodo Yatris and attached washrooms for the senior leaders of Congress.
The containers were designed in a way for two-to-eight-person capacity in a single container depends upon the facilities provided. As per reports, a contractor who was assigned to make these containers charged Rs 36 crore for all the containers including the petrol charges for its shipment.
While the Yatra crossed its 100 days, each day the food was made for the senior party leaders, the party workers and common public who joins yatra midway. While the arrangement of accommodation and arrangement of meetings for the encouragement of party workers in the areas from where the Yatra crossed expenditure is additional.
As per report, the total expense of the Yatra is around Rs 300 crores. It is also reported, for organising Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress had to cut the campaigning expenses from the election scheduled states.
But the Question arises is that, Is congress really care about eliminating hatred from the country or it was a try to repeal the Pappu image of Rahul Gandhi.
All India National Congress, oldest Political party of India is in a midst to revive the lost glory of the party after the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2014 general elections, a wave that took congress presence in the country with it.
Especially the senior Congress leader and former president Rahul Gandhi was seen as a option from the side of congress as a PM candidate but BJP working very cleverly played with the Rahul Gandhi as make him popular with a second name “Pappu”.
And the BJP workers and supporters made it sure that if someone will search on google with a title, “Pappu”, they come up with the profile of Rahul Gandhi. This went too long and that image of Rahul Gandhi in the public harmed opposition even in 2019 general elections. As a result, BJP crossed 2014 record and settled at 303 seats and congress managed to get only 52 seats.
The story remained same for the state assembly elections where congress wasn’t seen as a strong contender of making government.
Another benefit of the Bharat Jodo Yatra for Congress Party was to reconnect with the supporters of the party in the country.
