BSF Frontier Punjab organized “BORDERMEN MARATHON-2024” with the theme “Hand in Hand with Border Population” in Amritsar

Jalandhar (The Stellar News): BSF Frontier Punjab organized “BORDERMEN MARATHON – 2024” with the theme “Hand in Hand with Border Population” in Amritsar, Punjab on 25th Feb 2024. A large number of professional as well as armature runners from all across the country including personnel from various Central Police Forces, Army, Punjab Police and civilians above 18 years (men & women) took part in this Mega event, which had 03 categories of races i.e. Full Marathon (42.195 Kms), Half Marathon (21.097 Kms) and 10K. This Marathon was recognized by the Athletics Federation of India and the objective of this marathon was to foster the camaraderie between civilians and the troops of a reputed border guarding force by propagating the spirit of fitness among the participants & spectators as well.

2. Besides serving personnel of BSF from all formations under Western Command of the force, 500 youths of 06 border districts of Punjab, who are undergoing pre- recruitment training at BSF Battalions for various posts in CAPFs, also participated in this event.

3. The Bordermen Marathon- 2024 was proudly flagged off by Shri Nitin Agrawal, IPS, DG BSF at the iconic Golden Gate, Amritsar at 5.30 AM today in the esteemed presence of Sh. Y. B. Khurania, IPS, Spl DG BSF (WC), Dr. Atul Fulzele, IPS, IG BSF Punjab and Sanjay Gaur, DIG BSF Sector Amritsar and other dignitaries. The DG BSF also subsequently flagged off 21 Km half marathon at 6.30 AM from India Gate, Amritsar and 10K run at 7.00 AM from Lahorimal village, Amritsar.

This mega event was organized in a meticulously well-planned manner to facilitate the participants with all amenities like medical cover, hydration points and entertainment kiosks during the marathon. The complete Marathon route was lined up with BSF personnel as well as hundreds of local volunteers to cheer and boost up the morale of runners.

Nitin Agrawal, IPS, DG BSF along with Mrs Smita Agrawal, President BWWA, welcomed the runners at finishing point, the renowned JCP Attari, Amritsar and presented the prizes, Medals and Certificates to the position holders and participants of the “Bordermen Marathon – 2024”. Famous veteran sports persons including Olympions Harpreet Singh Mandher and Shri Simaranjeet Singh of Indian Hockey team were also felicitated by the Chief Guest. On this occasion, interacting with the media, DG BSF emphasized on the importance of physical fitness in daily routine and the determination to achieve the challenging objectives in life. He further stated that such events will inspire the youths not only to become a good sportsperson but also to develop the capability to show grit and gumption to achieve their goals. He reiterated to conduct the event on yearly basis with still more fervor. More than 1600 runners registered in all the three categories of races within prescribed age group. 6. Closing ceremony of Borderman Marathon- 2024 was conducted with full grandeur at prominent JCP Attari where BSF Mahila Band played melodious music beats. A wonderful cultural programme was also showcased by BSF troops and others to imprint the memories of this grand event forever. DG BSF appreciated the efforts made by IG, BSF Punjab Frontier, DIG, BSF Amritsar and all Officers and Jawans of BSF Punjab Frontier who contributed to make the Bordermen Marathon- 2024 a grand success. He also thanked the sponsors, veteran sports persons and others who had been a great support in making this event a huge success.

7. Overall, the “Bordermen Marathon- 2024″ was conducted in a spectacular manner and with great enthusiasm. The objectives of promoting the spirit of adventure & enterprise among the population while maintaining solidarity with the troops of BSF has been aptly achieved.
