Hoshiarpur: National Floor Hockey Championship for special children is being held at Pinegrove School, Kasauli Himachal from 15th to 19th December, 2015. Around 540 Athletes and Coaches from 21 States are participating in this six day event. Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Minister of State – Independent Charge, Youth Affairs & Sports, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship inaugurated the event. Air Marshal Denzil Keelor, CEO Special Olympics Bharat was also present on the occasion. Punjab boys team performed very well in this event. They won gold medal in the championship. They beat Gujarat 8-4 in the quarterfinal. In semi final they defeated Maharashtra by 7-3 goals and in thrilling final match they beat host Himachal by 5-3 goals. Credit goes to the dedication of coaches led by Sh. Suresh Thakur, Sports Director, SOB Punjab and hard work of athletes.
